  • When you run Total Access Emailer programmatically, the function now returns an error message if the email blast encounters an invalid email address. Previous versions did not return an error message for invalid email addresses

Please note that if your application checks for errors, the return value would have previously been "" (no error returned) if the email blast was successful, even if some email addresses were bad. Now, the error message will come back with the number of failed emails (e.g. "1 email failed" or "5 emails failed") indicating the rest of the emails were successfully sent.

  • This version includes an additional display type, which can be passed to the strDisplayType parameter when you run Total Access Emailer programmatically. This feature is not documented in the printed user manual, but is explained in the Help file under the "Parameters" topic:

"StatusBarDesc": In addition to the progress, the status bar shows the name of the email blast that is currently running.

  • If Total Access Emailer loses its connection with the mail server (e.g. if network connection is lost, or the mail server becomes overloaded), Total Access Emailer halts immediately and displays a message to the user. Previous versions continued attempting to send emails, and logged an error message for each failed email.

The following features were added in previous updates:

  • Total Access Emailer includes a feature that allows you to enter a "friendly" display name for recipients by using this syntax:

FMS Customer Service <fms@fmsinc.com>

In the example above, "FMS Customer Service" is displayed when the recipient (fms@fmsinc.com) receives the email.

  • Total Access Emailer allows you to use field references (values from your table or query) in the Cc and Bcc fields. Instead of typing the email address to receive a Cc or Bcc, just type the name of the field in square brackets, and the field name is replaced with the field's value when the email is sent. For instance, if your source table/query includes a field called "CcEmail," type:

[CcEmail]

When the email is sent, the field reference is replaced with the field value for the current record. Refer to the Advanced Customization topic in your manual or help file for more information.
