Case Study: Total Visual Agent
Customer Profile: NGP is a leading national software and
technology consulting firm. They provide database, filing, and IT solutions
to leading political campaigns and non-profit organizations. Their initial
contribution to the industry, which is still the most popular, is software
which allows hassle free, remote access to political campaign databases for
individual users to view financial information.
Business Situation: NGP Software wanted to maintain and manage a
large number of MDBs and MDEs which are accessed remotely. Their clients
store and access these files on NGP’s terminal server. Maintenance of these
databases and files became time consuming and was no longer cost effective.
Solution:
Total Visual Agent was adopted by NGP in order to
improve maintenance in their client’s databases. Total Visual Agent is an
immensely useful tool which allows for automated repair and maintenance of
Access and Jet Engine Database chores. The latest version of Total Visual
Agent, includes the option to run the program as a Windows NT Service. This
service runs even without a user logged on to the computer, providing
increased security and automated restart if the machine crashes.
Louis Levine, a senior vice president at NGP says, “I knew Total Visual
Agent was a great product, but I needed it to run as a service. When the new
version came out, I bought it the first day”. This feature has been
requested over the years, but it required the latest Microsoft technology to
enable the management of multiple Access security workgroups.
