New Features for Total Access Speller 2007, Version 12.0

This is no longer the latest version of Total Access Speller 2007.
Existing 12.X customers can upgrade to the latest version for a nominal fee.
For more information on the new features, visit Total Access Speller 2007, Version 12.7.

Total Access Speller is now available for Microsoft Office Access 2007 and supports Access 2007 databases (MDB, ACCDB and ADP formats) with a wide range of new features.

Microsoft Access 2007 introduces changes to objects, properties, VBA code, the user interface, an entirely new database format, new field types, embedded macros, and more.

Total Access Speller 2007 supports the new file formats and properties along with the new user interface in tabbed view or traditional windows. We've added many enhancements based on our experiences and customer recommendations.

Total Access Speller 2007, Version 12.0 Features and Enhancements

  • Supports the new ACCDB (Access 2007) database format in addition to the MDB and ADP formats
  • Supports new macro commands
  • Documents a variety of new properties, Access options, and many other settings including localization of property values to your version of Access

The new main screen reorganizes the separate features of spell checking your objects:

Total Access Speller 2007 Main Menu for Microsoft Access 2007

  • The main spell checking wizard is under the [Start Spell Checking] button and is similar to what existed in prior versions.
  • The [Last Results] button is new and provides a summary of the last set of requested changes with detailed reports of what worked and what failed or requires manual attention.
  • The [Property List] feature is removed from the previous version's spell check wizard and placed here since it's not usually modified for each spell checking session.
  • Finally, the new [Program Options] feature lets you specify the paper size for the reports (US Letter or A4) and how to handle properties on Linked Tables.
  • Completely redesigned user interface to support the sleeker Office/Access 2007, Vista/XP color schemes, and look and feel
  • Support for your database's Document Windows Options set to traditional overlapping windows or the new tabbed object display
  • Resizable forms for either Windows option
  • Alternating row colors for datasheets
  • The use of transparent buttons with graphics
  • Support for datasheet filtering throughout the application including selecting objects and properties to spell checking

In prior versions, changes to certain properties (command bars and controls with hotkeys) were not automatically applied. This is now significantly improved:

  • All object property updates are applied
  • Updates to linked table properties can be optionally applied
  • If a control's caption is updated and it loses its hotkey, a report lists these
  • Macro and embedded macro updates cannot be automatically applied because of Access security limitations. A report lists the changes that need to be made manually

A summary screen show the results of the spell checking changes with reports associated with them:

Several reports are available:

  • All requested changes
  • Requested changes that need to be manually updated
  • Requested changes that were automatically applied
  • Automated changes that succeeded and failed
(some changes may violate validation rules or permissions)
  • Any control captions that were changed and lost their hotkey (happens if the letter isn't in the new caption)
  • Reports can be sent to the new Access 2007 Report View which supports your ability to filter the results interactively
  • Option to choose A4 or US Letter size paper

Rather than storing its temporary data in the Total Access Speller add-in which caused bloat, a separate database is used to store the temporary data in your Application Data folder.
