Remove Administrative Shares Without Being Recreated Upon Reboot?

Provided by the FMS Development Team

How can I remove Administrative shares without them being recreated upon reboot?

If you delete administrative shares (Example: C$) they are recreated upon the reboot of your system.

In order to disable this feature, you must edit the following registry key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\lanmanserver\Parameters

On the AutoShareServer key set it to 0 to disable it for a server.

On the AutoShareWks key set it to 0 to disable it for a workstation.

If the entries are not present, add the keys with the type REG_DWORD, then add the appropriate values. The Range is 0 (disable) or 1 (enable - the default).

Thank you! Thank you! I just finished reading this document, which was part of a link in the recent Buzz newsletter. I have printed it for others to read, especially those skeptical on the powers of Access and its capabilities.
