MICROSOFT POSTS FMS PAPER TO THEIR YEAR 2000 RESOURCE CENTER WEBSITE

VIENNA, VA — May 17, 1999 — FMS is proud to announce that Microsoft ® (NASDAQ: MSFT) has posted our Year 2000 white paper "Preparing Office Solutions for the Year 2000" in their Year 2000 Readiness Disclosure and Resource Center. One of the most popular Year 2000 sites in the world, the Microsoft Year 2000 site prominently displays the research conducted by Dan Haught, FMS Vice President for Product Development. Microsoft is also including the FMS work as part of its Office Developer 2000 product.

As the world’s leading developer of developer tools for Microsoft Access, FMS led the research into Year 2000 issues affecting the Microsoft Office applications. A few years ago, most people assumed Year 2000 did not affect desktop applications. Our papers have revealed significant risks in improperly designed applications and solutions for fixing them. As a result, developers around the world are using our research to address their Year 2000 risks before the end of the year.

"We are extremely gratified that Microsoft thought so highly of our research to include it so prominently on their web site," said Luke Chung, president and founder of FMS. "We were the first company to research and discover Year 2000 issues in Access and Office, and want to make sure the entire developer community is prepared for Year 2000. Even today, many developers still don’t know how to create Year 2000 compliant desktop applications. Our paper and Microsoft’s efforts should help educate them on the proper techniques. After all, there’s nothing preventing a developer from creating non-Year 2000 compliant applications well into the next century!"

In addition to using FMS’ Year 2000 article, Microsoft is demonstrating the popular Microsoft Access Year 2000 program from FMS, TOTAL ACCESS INSPECTOR 2000, at Microsoft TechNet briefings this summer and fall. Over 130 sites are included in the tour for Year 2000 and TOTAL ACCESS INSPECTOR 2000 is the only Microsoft Access tool to be showcased.
